MESSAGE FROM YOUR LEADER
Hello All..............
Just a few things to catch up on:
YOUTH
TEST PASSES
Well done
to Amy Fryer, Tom Kitchenson and Jordan Bennett for passing their Youth Test
recently. Despite the best efforts of the weather, you battled through and
your efforts paid off. We're proud of you all.
Pennons will be available soon and we'll arrange a presentation later in the
year.
For those unable to attend and are still interested in taking their test, Just let me know
so we can try to arrange something.
A BIG WELL DONE
to those who attended the Ripon Casino
weekend. We raised a considerable amount of money to go toward the FICC next
year.
Thank you to RBCC, especially Alan Collinge, for their warm welcome and
generous support over the weekend. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks also to the RVDA adults for bringing and supporting us throughout the
meet.
Watch this space for developing
information.
Best regards

Latest ...... Ribblesdale BCC Casino Night

After a great time running the Casino at this
years Roast Night, members from Ribblesdale BCC, having enjoyed that evening
so much,
invited our Youth to do the same at their THS in Ripon over the weekend
15-17th September. So, always eager to please, the arrangements were made
and off we went.
The team arrived on the Friday, all present
and correct and we were ready to go.
Setting up on Saturday morning was a doddle. We've done it so many times now
we can do it with our eyes closed (Can't you Ian).
Saturday evening, all dressed to impress,
7:45pm and the punters start to arrive. Collared at the door by Gill and
Sarah and persuaded to part with their hard earned cash, they looked at the
set up with a little intrigue and surprise at first.
"Roll up roll up" went out the cry. "Ladies
and Gentlemen, place your bets". The first spin of the roulette wheel.
"Don't be shy, stack em high". The first chip went down with some
anticipation but we were off and running. More curious punters cautiously
came closer and took a chance. Before we knew it, the place was buzzing.
Black Jack to the right and left, Grabbers to the rear, Bottle draw to the
front, and Roulette at the heart. It was all going on.

They were all having a go now. Getting quite
competitive. Cheers of success, groans of failure. Cries of "Bum deal". The
cashiers were running out of chips, the croupiers were sweating and the card
shufflers overheating. People were loosing their chips but were compelled to
buy more. They were hooked. They had to get their own back on the Banker but
he's a crafty old sole and not many get the better of him.
Two and a half hours later and it was time
for the last spin, the last hand and the last chance to grab a win. In went
the big bets. Last chance to fill their coffers. Some cheered, some hung
their heads in shame. And alas, it was all over.
What a cracking night.
With the blessing of the BCC, all proceeds
from the evening went to the youth funds.
A big thank you to everyone who helped out
over the weekend. Ian & Gill Tyrer for bringing all the equipment, Jayne &
Peter Fryer for organising the Youth and donating the bottle draw. All the
parents and RV members for their support and contribution.
Extra special thank you to the Ribblesdale
BCC, especially Alan Collinge, for inviting us, supporting the Youth and
helping to make the evening such an enjoyable event. We hope you had as good
a time as we did.
RVDA Youth got special praise at Coffee
Morning from the Steward. As I recall some of the words used were:
Courteous, Polite, Helpful and "A credit to the DA".
Well done kids, We're proud of you.
Roast Nite Fun

Another successful Roast Nite weekend with
loads of fun had by all. The venue this year was Radcliffe Farm in New
Longton near Preston. The theme for this year was Circus and we had the now
traditional
Casino
Night on the Friday. Roulette, Black Jack, Slots and Grabbers for the kids.
There was a prize for the person with the most chips at the end of the night
and this was won by David Sears with over 280 chips. Well done to him and
thank you to everyone who helped and took part. It was a busy evening but
well worth the effort.

The Saturday Street celebrations were just as
much fun with most people dressing in the circus theme. Luckily the weather
was kind to us and turned out fine.

The afternoon meal and evening entertainment
didn't let us down either. Dancing the night away in the middle a field?
Can't beat it!
Once again, thank you to everyone who
contributed to the Casino and Tote and we hope you had as much fun as we
did.
